MASTER AGREEMENT
WGAZ has updated its policies towards Participant Protection through a strengthened Code of Conduct. A centerpiece of formalizing these policies is the Participating Unit Master Agreement required of each unit attending a WGAZ event. Depending on your classification, items such as scholastic eligibility (Scholastic Letter), insurance, and copyright are now incorporated into this new comprehensive document.

What is the Participating Unit Master Agreement (PUMA or simply MA)?
- The Participating Unit Master Agreement (PUMA) was developed in coordination with a strengthened Code of Conduct with a new Participant Reporting Policy for all entities involved in WGAZ.
- The new Master Agreement incorporates eligibility and insurance requirements, and copyright policies that were previously part of the event registration process into one comprehensive document.
Who must submit a Participating Unit Master Agreement?
- Every unit participating at a WGAZ event must have a signed agreement on file with the WGAZ.
When is the Agreement due?
- Agreements are due two (2) week prior to the first WGAZ event regardless of division.
What happens if my unit fails to have the signed Master Agreement on file by the deadline?
- If the Master Agreement is not on file by the deadline, your unit cannot be scheduled for that event.
- Units not scheduled for an event due to not having a signed Master Agreement on file may forfeit any entry fee to that event.
Who should sign the Master Agreement?
- Single Scholastic School groups are to have the Master Agreement signed by the school principal.
- Combined Scholastic School groups are to have the Master Agreement signed by the Superintendent.
- Independent groups are to have the agreement signed by an officer of the organization.
- University groups are to have the agreement signed by an employee of the university.
How does a group access the Master Agreement?
- Located on the Directors’ Only website on Competition Suite.
- Under resources and click on the Master Agreement.
How does a unit submit the Master Agreement?
- Print the Master Agreement PDF.
- Complete the Master Agreement listing Participant Group Name, Classification, and Address.
- Obtain the appropriate signature.
- Enter the current date.
- Upload entire document (all pages, in a single file) on the Directors’ Dashboard in Competition Suite > Unit Name > Organizational Data > Participating Unit Master Agreement.
Which Master Agreement forms do I fill out?
- SINGLE SCHOOL SCHOLASTIC UNIT
- If all your performers attend the same school, please complete the Single School Participating Unit Master Agreement. This will be the vast majority of scholastic units.
- A scholastic unit whose total membership are students from the same school, schools that feed directly into that school, or home-schooled students that reside within the school district boundaries.
- A authorizing school principal or administrator of the school must sign the Master Agreement and the Scholastic Eligibility Certification letter.
- COMBINED SCHOOLS SCHOLASTIC UNIT
- In some instances, scholastics unit may be approved to incorporate membership from multiple schools within the same school district.
- If these scenarios apply to your unit, please complete the Combined Schools Participating Unit Master Agreement.
- The superintendent of the school district must sign the Master Agreement.
- Scholastic Eligibility Certification letters must be signed by the principal of each school involved.
- If you have any questions regarding combined unit eligibility, please email the WGAZ Board.
- INDEPENDENT UNIT
- If your unit competes in an independent class, please complete the Independent Unit Participating Unit Master Agreement.
- An officer of the organization must sign the Master Agreement.
- Independent units will need to submit their proof of liability insurance along with their Master Agreement.
